Product Summary

This unit covers the first Sunday after Christmas through the second Sunday after Epiphany in Lectionary Year C. It is designed to help students understand 1) the concept that Jesus was both the Son of God and Son of Man; 2) that we live under the blessings of God's constant provision, 3) baptism as the Christian sacrament of inclusion into God's chosen people; and 4) Jesus as a new and better way to have a relationship with God.

Lesson 1: Growing in favor of God and our Parents-As a young teen, Jesus was faithful to both callings on His life: as Son of His heavenly Father and son of His earthly parents. (1 Samuel 2:18-20, 26; Psalm 148; Colossians 3:12-17; Luke 2:41-52)

Lesson 2: In the 'Hood-- We live under the blessing of God's constant provision. (Jeremiah 31:7-14; Psalm 147:12-20; Ephesians 1:3-14; John 1:[1-9], 10-18)

Lesson 3: Baptism of the Lord-At His baptism, Jesus' unique relationship to God (as King and Servant) was publicly revealed, thus launching Jesus' ministry as the authorized Son of God. (Isaiah 43:1-7; Psalm 29; Acts 8:14-17; Luke 3:15-17, 21-22)

Lesson 4: Our Life: Water to Wine-Christ brings transforming power, changing plain, tasteless, colorless existence into a full and vibrant life that is far better than what came before-and it's totally free and unlimited! (Isaiah 62:1-5; Psalm 36:5-10; I Corinthians 12:1-11; John 2:1-11)
