The Psalms

This lesson helps teens learn what the Psalms have to say about praise and worship, confession, anger and loneliness. As they move from lesson to lesson, your students will have opportunity to 1) understand worship and commit to making it meaningful in their lives; 2) make confession a humble and sincere part of their relationship with God; 3) express their frustration and anger to God and allow Him to change their anger to trust; and 4) turn to God for help and comfort during times of loneliness.

Lesson 1: Praise: Living in God's Presence--Because it focuses our attention on God, rather than ourselves, praise is an important way to learn about God and become aware of who He is. (Psalm 149; 150)

Lesson 2: I Confess--Humble confession is the first step in receiving forgiveness for sins and should e an ongoing part of the Christian life. (Psalm 51:1-6, 10-12; 1 John 9:9; Luke 18:9-14)

Lesson 3: Honest Anger--Anger is a legitimate emotion that God understands. He can help us express and control our anger in positive ways. (Psalm 13)

Lesson 4: God of the Lonely Hearts--Feelings of loneliness come to everyone, but we can depend on God, who understands us, is with us, and wants to help us. (Psalm 22)
