New Testament Unit 6

This unit is designed to walk students through the impact of the gospel upon the early church and the world. Youth will track the spread of the message to far away cities. They will see the church struggle under persecution and wrestle with false teachers in their midst. They will understand that although the circumstances were difficult, the message of Jesus continued to spread despite opposition and challenges.

Lesson 45: A New Way of Living--When the Corinthian church, which Paul founded, struggled with various problems related to holiness of character, Paul encouraged them to live a holy life by following his example as he followed Christ. (1 Corinthians 1:10-17; 6; 10:23--11:1)

Lesson 46: Paul and the Rise of False Teachings--Paul points out the erroneous teachings of misguided people and people seeking to destroy the faith. (2 Corinthians 11:16, 13-15; Colossians 2:8-23; 1 Timothy 1:3-11; Titus 1:10-16)

Lesson 47: The Gospel Reaches Rome--When Paul was taken as a prisoner to Rome, he continued to preach the gospel to a whole new group of people. (Acts 28:11-31; Philippians 1:12-14)

Lesson 48: Church Under Persecution--Peter urges the Christians to stand strong in their faith in the midst of persecution by Rome. (1 Peter 1:3-12; 2:13-25; 3:8-22; 4:12-19)
